Joe has been a tech executive and CEO for the last 25 years. He became CEO of Cadence Design Systems in 1987 and over the next decade grew the company from $10M to $1B to become the leader in electronic design automation (EDA) – the software used to design all electronic circuits today. In recognition, he received the Phil Kaufman award, the highest accolade in the EDA industry. Joe has also served on the board of dozens of companies like Oracle, Macromedia, Clarify and Mercury Interactive.
Trae is an independent board member and was the investing partner in Enlighted when she worked at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. At KPCB, Trae focused on companies in smart grid and energy efficiency. Before joining KPCB, she co-founded Good Technology, which provides a wireless corporate e-mail solution. Earlier in her career, she worked as a design engineer at IDEO Product Development, where she developed products including the PalmV and the Dell Latitude Docking station. Ms. Vassallo holds 13 patents, as well as BA, MA, and MBA degrees from Stanford University.
Don is a Managing Director of Draper Fisher Jurvetson and leads DFJ’s Global Network of Funds. His primary investment focus is on consumer web, enterprise IT and cleantech companies. Before joining DFJ, Mr. Wood was a general partner at Vanguard Ventures, held senior executive leadership positions at Octel Communications and International Power Technology, co-founded Wood-Howard Products and served as president of Metricom. He earned a BA in Economics and an MBA from Stanford University.
David is Managing General Partner and co-founder of RockPort Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in the areas of energy, mobility, and sustainability. Prior to founding RockPort in 1998, David was a Managing Director at Salomon Brothers, where he headed the Global Energy Investment Banking Group. He also worked at Shearson Lehman, Amoco and Bechtel. David received a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Kyle is a Managing Director at Silver Lake Sumeru. He has experience with investments, financings and mergers and acquisitions. Kyle joined Silver Lake in 2007 from Shah Capital Partners where he served as a Senior Partner. He also served as Managing Director at Lehman Brothers and head of Global Technology Investment Banking. Mr. Ryland is a director on the boards of AVI-SPL, Inc., Locaweb and Power-One, Inc. He holds a BA from Duke University and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business.
Rob Johnson joined Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers in 2014 and focuses on moving KPCB’s green tech ventures towards commercialization. Rob has over two decades of experience in data infrastructure and green tech management, financial planning and business development, with a strong track record of delivering growth by defining and executing strategic plans, recruiting and developing high-performance teams and driving product development and commercialization. Rob earned his B.S. and Honorary Ph.D. in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri S&T.
Q Motiwala brings 14 years of product and business development experience, working extensively across US, Japan, South Korea and India. Prior to Draper Nexus, he spent 11 years at Qualcomm and was also part of two mobile startups. Q holds 5 patents in wireless & semiconductor. His recent areas of interest are Robotics, Deep Learning, Industrial/Enterprise IoT and Autonomous Vehicles. He also serves as a Board of Director for the Draper Global Network. Q holds a BS in Electronics Engineering from University of Bombay, a M.S.E.E from Virginia Tech and MBA from Anderson School of Management, UCLA.
Tanuj is the chief technology officer and a co-founder of Enlighted. He has more than 20 years of experience in the computer networking and software industries. Most recently at Tropos Networks, he was responsible for solutions that manage the world’s largest WiFi mesh network. He has also served in management and architectural roles at Cisco, Nevis, Novell, and Hughes. Tanuj has a BS in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi.
