Enlighted joins the NEW Zhaga Consortium

May 15, 2019

Today, May 15th, Enlighted is pleased to announce we have joined the Zhaga Consortium. From the beginning, Enlighted has believed that the best path for customers and the industry is to have a global set of specifications that facilitated sensor integration into luminaires. This will reduce the barriers to bring new technologies and ideas to market and speed the adoption of IoT in lighting and buildings.

We also recognized that these kinds of standards take time to evolve with several steps along the way. When we launched IoT Ready two years ago, together with other major industry partners, it was an important milestone. Having created a standard socket for IOT-enabled LED Luminaires that allows easy addition of intelligent IoT sensors in the field, it was time to take the next step and combine our efforts with Zhaga.

Zhaga is a global association of lighting companies that is standardizing interfaces of components of LED luminaires, including LED light engines, LED modules, LED arrays, holders, electronic control gear (LED drivers) and connectivity fit systems. Zhaga continues to develop specifications based on the inter-related themes of interoperable components, smart and connected lighting, and serviceable luminaires.

Zhaga and the IoT Ready Alliance agreed to align their efforts and to proceed as a single organization, as announced in April. The objective is to foster a harmonized, global set of interface specifications for sensor-to-luminaire integration and to remove confusion in the industry. The NEW Zhaga Consortium went live in December 2018 with a widened scope of work to address new growth areas in IoT and the service economy. The NEW Zhaga focuses on interoperability and executes a strong program to address interfaces for smart components, such as sensors and communication modules.

We are thrilled to join the NEW Zhaga and with our combined forces help fuel smart lighting innovation.
