Local tech giants bring forth Covid-19 contact tracing tech for the workplace

The market for workplace contact tracing services is getting more crowded, with two new Bluetooth-powered offerings from Silicon Valley tech companies seeking to help employers monitor and prevent the spread of Covid-19 among employees and guests.

One such service, a partnership between Santa Clara-based ServiceNow and Sunnyvale-based Juniper Networks Inc. launching Thursday, expands on ServiceNow’s existing Safe Workplace suite of software applications.

The suite’s new integration with Juniper Mist — the artificial intelligence-driven IT entity resulting from Juniper’s acquisition of Mist last year — uses Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to track employees’ movements through office buildings, using either a smartphone or badge.
